  • Falabella, (SN: Falabella) Santiago, Chile: The largest retailer in South America. Provides advisor services to CEO since 2016.
  • brMalls, (BZ: BRML3) Rio de Janeiro Brazil: Advisor to CEO with going public in 2007 at $50M USD and grew the company to $3B USD. Assisted with a $5B USD merger with Alliance in 2022. Since 2016.
  • Dundee Realty, (TSE:D) Toronto Canada:  Worked with ownership to take the company public in 1998 for $100M (Canadian $) and grew the company to over $1B in 4 years.

  • Equity Lifestyle Properties (NYSE: ELS): Director, chair of compensation and governance committee, and member of audit committee of this owner of manufactured homes communities, RV Resorts, and Marina. Joined 2009.
  • Chai Trust Company: Trustee, Audit chair, and member of Distribution committee of this Private Trust Company that is the trustee of the Sam Zell family trusts. Joined 2018.   
  • ARG Realty: Director of this privately held company headquartered in Argentina, focused on commercial real estate. Joined 2017.

  • Consisting of 180 retail properties, the Mall Platform represents 50% of the EBITDA and valuation of SPG
  • Established strategy and directed operations for a portfolio generating annual revenues of $5 billion and EBITDA of $3 billion 
  • Completed $4.2 billion of construction and development activity, generating an average investment return of over 8% on 2 new developments, 27 property transformational expansions, and 40 property enhancements
  • Assisted in the disposition of over 70 properties and restructured company operations
  • Negotiated the disposition of 7 properties generating over $600 million in proceeds
  • Added 6 new department stores to facilitate mall expansions, replaced 21 department stores, and added 42 new anchor stores
  • Increased EBITDA by a compounded annual growth rate of 3.2%, among the best in mall sector during a 6-year tenure
  • Achieved 6 years of consistent occupancy growth from 93.7% to 96%, improved margins, and stabilized tax recoveries

Provided strategic counsel to Sam Zell and EGI affiliates on real estate and corporate investments. Actively managed a $10 billion investment portfolio, sourced and managed real estate investment opportunities, and liaison with partners and portfolio companies. Highlights included: 

  • Zell Credit Opportunity Fund ($625 million distressed debt fund with Chinese Investment Company) – Served as senior investment committee member, analyzed, and sourced investment opportunities across a wide spectrum of industries
  • REITs: Served as Zell’s representative to senior management of Equity Residential Properties (NYSE: EQR) and Equity Lifestyle Properties (NYSE: ELS)
  • Equity International: Served as EGI liaison, board member, and advisor on mall, housing, and retail-related investments in emerging markets. Provided retail expertise and market knowledge of Brazil, UAE, China, Kuwait, Chile, Mexico, Egypt, and Canada
  • Starwood Hotels (NYSE:HOT): Served as owner’s liaison to Starwood Hotels regarding real estate, time-share, and development matters

  • Market capitalization grew 600% from $2 billion to $14 billion
  • FFO growth from $2.17 per share to $4.50 per share, a compounded annual increase of 8.75%

  • Zell Real Estate: Led the sale and Liquidation of $2B of all of Sam Zell’s real estate assets in 2006
  • Zell/Merrill Opportunity Partners ($1.5B investment fund): Responsible for Retail investments of $200M
  • Zell/Chilmark: $1B investment fund. Coordinated real estate acquisition analysis of Broadway Department stores and acquisition of Revco Drugs. Sold Broadway Department stores to Federated Department store company for $250M

  • Starwood Retail Properties: Provided Advisory services on property valuations and repositioning
  • Irvine Company: Provided Advisory services on restructuring of operations and opined on property enhancement projects
